Rescue Me ID: 17-01-10-00040Oscar (male)

Maine Coon Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Courtesy Post: OSCAR Age: Approx. 7-10 years Health: Good condition, minor skin scaling, minor dental decay Breed: Maine Coon Tuxedo Mix Sex: Male Weight: 16lbs 2.5 oz Coat: Long Hair Eye: Green/Gold - Changes on Lighting Oscar is a sweet, although fussy, Maine Coon Tuxedo Cat. He is very sweet, and can often be found rubbing against your legs and purring but has issues with having his feet touched and being picked up for long amounts of time. He seems to have a very friendly nature, and even when he gets upset and growls, he has not bit or used his claws on me once. He is generally calm, and gets lonely quick. He will scratch on doors ... (Read More)to get attention either to be fed or to be given pets and love. He likes getting behind his ear scratched along with under his chin. He does not seem to get along with other cats, but tolerates the presence of our small dog. I would most likely not recommend him being in a multi pet household though, mostly since I do not know if he lived in a multi pet household before I took him in. He has not been tested for Feline HIV/AIDS or Feline Leukemia, yet but we are taking him to get this test in early January and will update anyone with interest on the results. The vet does not believe he has either illness but we are going to test him for precautionary measures. I am moving on January 5th so the sooner he can be found a home the better, I will still be the main contact, but my parents, who are not moving, will be able to set up anyone interested with a chance to meet him if he cannot be found a home until after I move. We have been supplementing his diet with Omega-3 to help with the skin scaling, I suggest whoever adopts him continue doing this. He has varying reactions to being brushed. He enjoys wet food over dry food. He tends to get his claws stuck on things very easily. He will growl at you when you try to unstick his claws, and he may even deliver a cautionary nip, but he has never once harmed me. Mostly he just gives a deep warning growl.     7/28/16 Update: These 2 wonderful dogs have never had a place to call home. We are open to adopting them out separately with a trial period to make sure they are happy. Lois and Clark are best friends and have been through a lot together. They are a bonded pair and together they could make your family complete. Lois is around 2 years old and about 50 pounds. She is the best kind of dog, a mystery mix! (Collie, Shepherd, Pit?) She is very sweet and loving, good with dogs and people. Not a barker.     He's 7 years old and came in to the shelter as an owner surrender due to landlord issues. Owner kept him outside, so he does still 'patrol' his property-we've been working on that. He very much enjoys walks and hikes and then content to lounge around. He's so easy to have around, with his cool and calm demeanor. He's good with dogs his size (still have yet to see him with a small dog) not with cats, house trained, does not sleep/stay in crate-he does sleep on his bed in our room.     Kitty Katy was living on the streets of North Hollywood and was a teen mom. :( She's gorgeous, young (a year old at most), probably won't be more than 9-10 pounds, and ready for a forever home. She would be fine as an only child or with other cats. She's a bit freaked about dogs but could learn to accept them if they give her some space. She's sweet but independent. We're confident that once she's in a forever home and given a chance to settle, she will be more affectionate and lose some of the Tortie-tude.     Hi, my name is Weezer. I have been with my foster family for over 3 years. Don't get me wrong, I like them and appreciate them but I see other foster kids come and go and I wonder when my time will come. Okay, yes, I am a serial leg-lifter. It's a bad habit but I grew up on the street and I was influenced by some bad dogs. And I am banned from attending the mobile adoptions because I get too excited and vocal. But it's only because I am so excited at the idea of finding a forever home. I'm around 9 pounds (still trying to trim down, foster mom got the bright idea of free feeding me and that was a mistake. Good thing I don't wear clothes or I ... (Read More)would need a new wardrobe.) I like other dogs, cats and kids. My favorite hobby is playing chase with my foster brother and wrestling in the grass with Samantha the Cat. If you think we are right for each other and you are willing to join a committed relationship with me please email info@laar.org Btw, I am cool with having a open relationship. You can see other dogs. I don't mind. Just come home to me. XO ~Weez We are a 501c3 non-profit organization. Adoption process includes an adoption contract and home check.     Oggy Doggy Approx. 8 years old Around 120 pounds Extremely loving, just wants to sunbathe and get belly rubs. Good with other dogs He came into the East Valley Shelter as a stray and became a volunteer favorite. He is absolutely stunning. He's a bit under weight, we are working on bulking him up. He's a puller on the leash but it's more out of excitement to go to the grass to roll around. He seems very appreciative but at the same time sad. I wish he could tell us his story.
